Rolling Out The Barrel at Oktoberfest
Posted on September 8, 2016
Beer brewing has been happening for millennia, and for most of that time beer was brewed in wooden containers, because beer was such a commodity throughout history the barrel was invented to aid in transportation. Beer isn’t commonly brewed in wooden barrels anymore, while them may not be common, if you’re attending the Carroll County Oktoberfest you might see a few.
One of the most exciting and most anticipated event at the Rotary Carroll County Oktoberfest is the Beer barrel rolling contest. Contestants roll heavy barrels in heats down race ways and compete for the best time.
At our event all contestants must be 18 years of age and wear gloves which we will provide. You must have closed toed shoes.
When reaching the finish line, the barrel must be brought fully upright on its end before it can be rolled back to the starting line, otherwise you will be disqualified. The race judge’s rulings are final.
If you are interested in participating you can sign up for this event at Oktboerfest, be sure to take video and picture and use #CCOFest if you participate, we would love for you to share your experience.
