Happy 206th Birthday Oktoberfest!
Posted on July 20, 2016
Whether or not you are a beer drinker, you have no doubt heard about the famous Oktoberfest that takes place each year in Munich, Germany. This year Oktoberfest will celebrate its 206th birthday, the first festival took place in 1810 in honor of Bavarian Prince Ludwig’s marriage. All around the world other countries, states, and towns celebrate Oktoberfest as well, even Carroll County, Maryland. While Carroll Counties Oktoberfest isn’t as old, and is celebrating its 4th birthday this year, that doesn’t mean it isn’t as ripe with tradition as it 16 day long German counterpart.
You can expect to experience some of the same traditional music, festivities and food as you would in Munich, but with the convenience of a short drive over an eight hour plan ride. The Rotary Oktoberfest of Carroll County Proudly serves up a fun filled day of lederhosen, polka, and beer that is 100% family friendly, something that you won’t find anywhere else.
