A Brief History of Oktoberfest

Do you know the real history of the Oktoberfest celebration?

It all began in the year 1810 as a wedding celebration for King Ludwig I  and Princess Therese von Saxe-Hildburghausen. The original festivities were on October 12th, in 1810 and essentially all of Munich was invited to attend. These festivities were so successful the German people decided to continue with the celebrations every Oktober—and they called it Oktoberfest!

So why does Oktoberfest begin in September? Basically the reason for this is that the weather is much more favorable in September so they decided it makes sense to have such a large outdoor festival then.
